I experienced emotional and sexual abuse by a professor at a Musikhochschule in germany. From the very beginning, the professor had established a very open, friendly atmosphere in individual lessons and in the class sessions. It was normal for him to give female students a neck massage before the class session began. Also, kisses on the cheek from him as a greeting and overall a lot of physical contact were standard. I came into the class when I was 19 and I thought it was just very relaxed and easy going and didn’t give it much thought. It continued with him talking to me more and more about private matters in individual lessons and he also wanted to talk more and more about the relationships and sexuality of other fellow students with me. At one point, the professor confessed to me in an individual lesson that he had fallen in love with me and would like to invite me to his house. All in all, I was overwhelmed by the situation, but at the same time curious and, in a strange way, flattered. The following lessons took place at his house and sexual contacts happened that completely overwhelmed me. He told me that I was not allowed to talk to anyone about what was going on between us and that a close friend who was also studying in the class would surely be very disappointed in me if I told her. After my studies, I learned that other female students had also experienced physical and verbal boundary violations and emotional manipulation in individual classes with him.
